Visit With Santa

Santa came to our happy little town last week for a visit with the area children at the American Legion. They provided juice and cookies, face painting, and photo opportunities of Santa Claus. Zach did very well. I was impressed that he was not more afraid. He was cautious, but curious as well. Each child seemed to have about 2-3 minutes of "Santa" time, and when they were finished, he gave each child a goody bag with treats.

We're learning some Christmas songs like Away in the Manger, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and Jingle Bells. He doesn't know them all, but he knows parts or actions to some of it, and its fun to watch him try to join in. Yesterday Grandma L came for a visit and we made a Festivitree- a stacking star cookie tree. We tried frosting it together which was a little hard because Im a Martha, and he's a "get er done" kind of kid.


He was all over testing out the icing- which was royal icing that dries hard as a rock, and not good to eat. That didn't stop him! It was pretty cute trying to keep him from eating the cookies before we got them stacked into our "tree" but it was all about having fun together and sprinkling the candy on the frosting.
