Full day of play

This is the place Heather and I had supper this evening called "The Wall". A little more upscale from our previous cafe and take home food. It was very good, not that expensive, and it had a menu in English. As you might notice this is not Heather entering this data for you to read,but her loving husband Jason. Heather is finishing sewing the tag on the quilt, since tommorrow will be our last day at the orphanage. We will be leaving the quilt, picture book, some favorite toys, and many hugs and kisses before we go.

Today was a long, but quick day. It seemed like three days in one. We thought we would have so much exrta time on our hands, but we have very little.


We got back to the hotel about 8 last evening after a 3 hr playtime at the orphanage, a stop at a pizza place for some take-out, and a stop at the nearby grocery store (for some water, bread, and jam). We are finally starting to get accustomed to this place, and really enjoy it here! We downloaded pictures, answered some emails and went to bed finally at 11:30 PM.


This morning we woke up bright and early at 4 AM and struggled to go back to sleep. Finally after tossing and turning for 2 hours and trying to watch a movie on our computer DVD we drifted off to sleep again until 8 AM.


We were picked up at 1o AM to take us to the orphanage to visit our dear litle boy. He had a slight fever in the night, so we were concerned today about not making him too worn out. We had asked if we could take him outside, but with the fever, it was not possible. Just as we arrived our boy was coming back from the ENT doctor. The fever was gone, but he was still congested with runny nose and some wheezing. The visit went well, considering that our boy was under the weather. There were definately times where he just wanted to snuggle, or just wanted to play. There were also times where he seemed as if he just needed a little time on his own to regroup. He sucks his thumb quite a lot to comfort himself and also chew where he is teething.


When we could see that he was tired, we left and came back to the hotel for a nice lunch at the cafe. We had chicken meatballs, rice/potatos, soup, bread, and a funky stewed fruit drink with chunks that look like brains at the bottom of a glass! Here is what our lunch looked like:


It tasted very good! One thing we are learning is that russian food uses lots of sour cream, mushrooms, potatos, onions, and always garnished with lots of fresh dill! You won't go hungry in Russia if you like these things, and don't mind trying something that looks a little unfamiliar.








After our lunch we enjoyed a nice nap- since we were very tired from keeping our boy happy during our visit with him, and the lack of sleep the night before.


At 3:50, our team of angels came to pick us up and take us to the official notary. There we signed the paperwork saying that we had all the information we needed to make a decision to adopt the child we have been blessed to meet and get to know. From there we went to the orphanage to see our boy again. Every time, he gives us a big toothy grin when he first sees us, which warms our hearts completely!


We had planned to stay 2.5 hours, but our little guy just wasn't up to it that long. He isn't used to having such undivided attention, and with his illness, he wore out after 1.5 hours. We taught him how to eat cherios- which le likes very much, but can only chew with front teeth. We also took quite a lot more home video today to take back with us.


After our visit, we were picked up and taken to small souvenier shop where we bought two matroyshka dolls, a small birch bark box, a wooden toy game, a magnet and a spinning top. Our Translator then accompanied us for a stroll around the block, showing us a nice grocery store, the local church (although it was closed) and then took us to The Wall to help us order our delicious supper. I had pork meatlof with mustard sauce, meat soup with beef tongue, pork suasage, bacon, olives, lemon, dill, french fries and bread. Heather had pork chop with onions, mushrooms and sour cream sauce, french fries, along with white mushroom soup and bread. She also tried a berry drink which was more sour than sweet. Tomorrow is our last day with our boy, and we are sad, but so glad we came here! Many adoptive parents have such a long drive to their orphanage, they only have one visit per day. We have had two- so it seems that we have been blessed in more ways than we could have ever imagined. We're sorry we cannot post more interesting pictures of the boy we love, but someday soon you will meet him. Nadya tells us that typically, the wait for court is two months, so we will have to make our last visit memorable!
