Tannenbaum Acres

Last Saturday, our family headed out to the Christmas tree farm in search of the perfect tree. Though its not my favorite kind (I like the fir variety) we chose a white pine variety which is nice and bushy, soft, and ours had a straight trunk (something hard to come by). We put the tree up Monday morning before Zach woke up. When he saw it the first thing he said was "WOW!" We've been trying to teach him not to touch it, but you can imagine how well that is going. He's had a few trips to the corner for throwing things at it, grabbing the ornaments, and not obeying us (Big surprize. Ha-yeah right!). We've offered the alternative of blowing on the tree to watch the branches move, or sniffing the tree to smell it. Mostly, Im really just not letting him be alone in the room unsupervized because the temptation to experiment with the tree is too great.

Prior to the hunt Zach fell asleep in the car. I belive the snow suit "cooked" the child to sleep, as he was wearing the suit for about 1/2 hour inside of a warm (but not hot) truck. Note to other rookie parents * Bundle the child up after you've arrived at the destination, but prior to exiting the vehicle* For a few minutes we thought we'd have to lug around all 30 pounds of the sleeping sweetie up and down the hills of the tree lot. Thankfully he woke up!

There is no snow in the photos, but it was very cold and the wind that day was bitter. Thanks to the tree farmer, we got a nice family photo, but not in front of "OUR" tree. This one was just one of the closest to the truck. The one we took home is 7 feet tall and smells just like Christmas.

That photo of him in front of the sign reminds me of the little boy in 'A Christmas Story,' where he's all bundled up in his snowsuit and falls down on the snow and says 'I can't get up!!' because he's got so many layers on!

Zach is so cute!
