The Pink of Perfection

Its just too bad that life isn't as simple as it is portrayed in Summer Magic or Pollyanna! If it was, adoption would be easier too! The latest explanation for the accreditation delay is yet again because of a paperwork problem.

We were clued into this whole business about perfect paperwork when we first started this adoption. We were warned repeatedly that Russian officials are absolutely, without a doubt, 100% particular about all documents. Every T is crossed, every I is dotted, every signature is exact. There shall be no abbreviations, misspellings, or extra markings on any page. All documents must be notarized, apostilled, and have the signature of someone in the highest authority to verify authenticity and accuracy- for us that meant the Secretary of State.

At least as far as international adoption is concerned, the Russian government is holding itself to the same standard for perfect paperwork.

The latest "rumor" I have read via FRUA is that there are about 12 US agencies that have received approval from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Education and Science is the last Ministry to review the documents for accreditation and eventually will issue the certificates of approval. What I've read is that someone from the ministry of Internal Affairs signed off on all the paperwork, but the Ministry of Education denied that signature because they didn't have enough authority to make it legitimate. So, now we are waiting for the different ministries to get the right signatures by the right people and until that happens, we are still waiting for more good news.

It really does have to be PERFECT. And there is someone sitting at a desk checking over every piece of paper with a magnifying glass making sure it is The Pink of Perfection.
